It's probably a holdover from pre-vatican II when all women covered their heads in church. I would guess. And of course you would be all prettied up for first communion...the everyday use is gone but the ceremony remains? That's my guess. It is not at all required. Sophia sees my photo and wants to do the same thing.
I, too, like the Irish dance picture. And I love Maeve in the picture of the two girls at church. Glad to see Sophia with a smile and more relaxed before the nervousness set it. And, of course, Leo is spectacular! Thanks for sharing all the photos.
I like to learn. I like to know people who can do things I don't know how to do. I like to drink coffee and sit on my south St. Louis city stoop and chat with neighbors. Dinner can wait. Very blessed by the place I've chosen to call home.

I've never made one before.
It's Mardi Gras, at least for a little while longer, and I lived in
Houston, which is close enough to East Texas and Louisiana ...

Those pictures are so sweet. I love Sophia's veil. It reminds me of my own 1st communion.
aw, I love the Irish dance photo.
great pictures.
but now, in the inquiring-Protestants-want-to-know category: why a veil for First Communion??
